Smithmo Credit Limited is guided by the principle of a continuing commitment to do business in an ethical manner and to contribute to the economic development of the customers while improving the quality of the lives of the workforce and their families, the local community, and society in general. We have embedded this principle in our initiatives and strategies for business. Apart from supporting environmental care projects and vulnerable populations, we espouse respect for the human dignity, honesty, autonomy, rights, privacy, and interest of not only our direct customers but also all other stakeholders. We strive to strike a balance between the profits, the people, and the planet.
We employ many models of Corporate Social Responsibility including the Classical Economic Model, Socio-economic Model, Friedman model, Ackerman Model, Carroll Model, Environmental Integrity & Community Model, Corporate Citizenship Model as well as Stockholders & Stakeholders Model. Therefore, in our bid to achieve our philanthropic obligations, Smithmo Credit Limited gives donations, and gifts and helps the poor to ensure goodwill & social welfare. Apart from investing large amounts of money of our CSR budget in education for the youth (Scholarship and Mentorship/Apprenticeship programmes), we also build and furnish community schools, worship centres, children’s homes, homes for the aged, centres for SGBV survivors and support smallholder farmers to increase their farm production and improve their livelihoods.
At Smithmo Credit Limited, we have proved that not only does CSR we do increase business and revenue to us, but it also promotes change and progress throughout the country, which often involves helping people with few or no resources. This is the basis of our anchor on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and support for the same, especially Goal No. 1 “No Poverty”.
